Biography:

Stanley Wong, better known as Anothermountainman on the art scene, was born in 1960. He is a renowned designer and contemporary artist based in Hong Kong. After five years as a graphic designer, Wong began his career in the advertising industry, working as chief executive and creative director for many international advertising agencies, including JWT / Hong Kong, BBH / Asia, and TBWA / Hong Kong. Fifteen years later, with his passion and enthusiasm for creative visuals, Wong became a film director for television commercials and established 84,000 Communications in 2007, branching out into the branding and marketing consultancy industry.

Throughout his career, Wong has received over 600 local, Asian, and international awards for his art, design, photography, and advertising works. These include 2 One Show Gold Awards from the U.S., D&AD Yellow Pencil from the U.K., Tokyo TDC Award, 3 Grands from DFA Awards, numerous gold awards in the Asia Advertising Spikes Awards, HKDA Asian Design Awards, and HK4A Kam Fan Awards. Many of his works have been exhibited in local and overseas galleries and museums in more than 150 shows, including Two Men Show / Stanley Wong x Anothermountainman, a solo show at Tokyo GGG in 2015, and Time Will Tell / Anothermountainman x Stanley Wong / 40 Years of Work, a cohesive retrospective covering over 1,500 square meters at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum from 2019 to 2020. Collectors of his works include Hong Kong M+, London V&A Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Art, and Hong Kong Heritage Museum. Wong is also passionate about photography and various creative mediums, with a strong focus on social issues.

Over the past two decades, Wong gained international recognition with his ‘Red, White and Blue’ series, which promotes the ‘Positive Spirit of Hong Kong’. He presented this series at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005, representing Hong Kong. Wong has also dedicated his passion to creative education, giving public lectures, talks, and workshops in Hong Kong, mainland China, and abroad. In addition, Wong has served as an external professional advisor for institutions such as HK PolyU, HKDI, and the Hong Kong Art Center Art School. In 2012, Wong was named Artist of the Year 2011 (Visual Arts) at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards and received the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards 2012 from the Hong Kong Museum of Art. In 2020, he was named DFA World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer.
