Dialogue with Information
Brief description:
The inherent properties of a text dictate its information transmission in a linear manner. Editorial design is built upon a deep understanding and analysis of the content, capturing the internal logic of information flow, structuring space effectively, and achieving a precise visual representation of the message.
In this course, we will approach the design process through the lens of editorial design. We will dissect and interpret information—much like peeling back the layers of an organism to explore the interconnections between its components. How can we efficiently organize information within spatial constraints? How can we identify and establish the underlying relationships between key pieces of information during the editorial process? How can we translate abstract concepts into tangible visuals, completing the transformation into a visual language? How can we apply diverse editorial design strategies to communicate the core message and materialize the book’s physical form? These questions will guide us in constructing a layered, cohesive information system throughout the design process.
